OUR APPROACH

Teach for Italy aims to expand educational opportunities for children, regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds and current educational attainment levels, and to persuade young Italians to complete their tertiary education advocating for education as a key for self-empowerment.

We believe that leadership is at the core of the solution and aim to create a nationwide movement of leaders focused on the elimination of educational inequities in Italy. Through leadership we aim to change the perception of teaching as a profession, attracting the most talented individuals to the most under-resourced schools in Italy.

Teach For Italy will recruit outstanding leaders from the best Italian universities and ask them to make a commitment that begins with two years of teaching as a Teach for Italy Fellow in an underserved school. In partnership with schools, universities, and businesses in the communities where we work, we will provide our fellows with initial training, ongoing professional development, and access to unparalleled resources and support networks.

In the short-term, through our two-year leadership development Fellowship Program, we will provide an opportunity to Italy’s brightest and most promising individuals, to serve as teachers in some of the country’s most under-resourced schools. Through this experience of teaching in classrooms and working with key local stakeholders, our fellows will begin to cultivate the knowledge, skills, and mindsets necessary to attain positions of leadership within and outside of the education system in Italy.

In the long-term, we want to engage and support our alumni and build a growing community to advocate for change. Ten years from today, our Alumni will work in diverse roles within the education sector in Italy, as well as in the ecosystem supporting the education sector, as journalists, lawyers, health experts, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders, all with a shared purpose to build a broader movement for educational equity.
